As mentioned earlier, with teammates' wives here visiting...makes Glenn and I miss home that much more. We do call home several times a day, but still tough not heading back before Athens. Won't be home until October! I miss Donna and kids. Glenn misses Liz, Mattie and his Thursday Night World Championships. Oh yea...he also misses pulling vegetables from his garden and seeing how his 70 pound zuchinni is doing (neighbor says his garden is on steroids!). Guess it is if that is what you call using a variety of manures and fertilizers!
We leave here early Thursday morning. Can't believe it is approaching! Wow! We fly from Denver to Washington DC/Dulles Thursday morning, Sept 9. We do processing at an airport hotel in DC...get rest of our Olympic clothes, gear, swag, etc. We do security training, sign more forms and paperwork (usually the same forms we keep filling out over and over!). Then a charter flight from Dulles to Athens on Friday, Sept 10. Flight is scheduled to be 10 hours from Dulles to Athens.
Missing home, friends, family, love and its comforts.
I've been following very closely Hurricaine Frances in Florida where Mom, Dad and Nana are. Mom and Dad are with their boat, Sandzia, in the Gulf (anchored within view of the shore) fighting the storm. That way they are away from other boats, docks, etc. so that nothing can hit them. Like with Charlie two weeks ago, they had to evacuate the marina for safety with Sandzia. Been talking to them daily. They tell me how survival at times like this puts life into perspective. Mom had to cancel her flight to Tucson on Saturday to help Donna with kids. She is trying to depart instead on Wednesday, but another Hurricaine is coming (Ivan) after this one...and Dad needs an "assistant" on the boat. So, we will see what happens. Plans may change again. Thoughts and prayers their way.
Later to ya'll.
