Words from Liz (Glenn's Better Half)
Tuesday, September 14, 2004

So...Donna and the kids are surviving in Tucson without me.  Donna is preparing to come to Athens at the end of the week.  So...the other half of the tandem...how is Liz doing in Seattle you ask?  Here's how:  And, oh yea, Liz and Glenn are PERFECT for each other...they both have similar humor.  - Jason

Just know that a whole lot of love is coming you way, from people you know and people you have never even met but you are inspiring just the same, I'm sending it over the North Pole because there's less atmospheric interference.  The people at Maddy's horse lesson stable were in awe today that they are one degree from knowing two such hardworking and high-achieving Olympians!  MAKE US ALL PROUD!

I blame global cooling.  Who ordered all this rain?  So there should be tomatoes for you, just barely, when you come home with the medal(s).

Oh, did I mention?  Don't come home without some hardware, my Black Hills framed picture is pretty nice and you want your mutual September to be at least as impressive.

Remember why you are there.  Everything is fine here in the USA and you are are over there both doing what you were born to do.  So just do it, OK? I'm serious.  You have both proven you can overcome hurdles beyond human logic.  Why should it not be you?  You're stronger that USADA!  Show them. Make it so.

FYI, Glenn you got another letter saying you passed your drug test in July.  They're really on top of things.

I love you guys.  I now offer you the highest praise:

It's the people you influence that makes the difference.  When I was running through Millersylvania Park thinking to myself "You can't quit, Jason and Glenn would not quit" and "It's too soon to give up" and "What would Jason and Glenn do right now? Say "Oh that former Once Team (the Spain tandem team) is too good, they'll just catch me so I should give up?  NO WAY"  I just kept going as fast as I could and I beat MYSELF, that's what it's all about.  Beat yourselves.    It has so little to do with them,

Just beat yourselves,

my highest compliment to you both is,

You make me want to be a better racer.

Thanks for the inspiration.  Now, go do what you were meant to do.

xoxoxoxoxo

Love, Liz

Subject:  Response to The Tool

I just read two entries from Glenn.  He talked about being "married" to Jason, but there was no mention of his other wife.

How do you expect me to remain interested in this cause if I am not credited for everything?!?

Who's taking out the trash and painting Olympic rings on the front lawn?  Who's changing the phone message to say how long Glenn will be gone this time?  Who is telling all her students that she might be lying when she says she is married to the oldest athlete going to Athens?  Who agreed not to have more children so Glenn could remain this footloose and fancy free?

The sacrifices are endless.

Who's Olympics is this anyway?

Just checking.  I was so dure it was all about ME and then I read that...it was not in the least way about me!

No wonder Bard is hitting on Glenn.

Travel safe and come home winners so I can take no credit for it, ok?

- Liz
